#21 Mammoths beat #49 Mules on the road, 6-3

WATERVILLE, ME – On Saturday afternoon, the #21 Amherst College men's tennis team improved their NESCAC record to 4-0 this season with a 6-3 win versus the #49 Colby College Mules. The Mammoths won on the Mules' home indoor courts inside the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center. 

On a two-match winning streak, Amherst's season record improves to 9-2 (4-0 in NESCAC). Up next: the Mammoths will now stay overnight in Maine and prepare to take on the #5 Bowdoin College Polar Bears tomorrow at 12pm. The match will take place indoors at the Maine Pines Racquet and Fitness Center.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • After being down 2-1 after the doubles matches, Amherst won five out of the six singles matches to win overall
  • Junior Kobe Ellenbogen and Andreas Sillaste backed up their close 8-7 doubles win at the #1 spot with straight-sets singles wins at the #1 and #3 singles spots respectively
  • First-year Rex Harrison fought back from losing the first set in a tiebreak to win at the #5 singles spot
