#16 Amherst score their first top-20 win versus #17 Southwestern, 7-2

GEORGETOWN, TX – On Wednesday afternoon, the #16 Amherst College men's tennis team took down the #17 Southwestern University Pirates with a score of 7-2. The Mammoths won on the Pirates' home turf, the Marvin D. Henderson Sr. Tennis Courts.

Amherst remain faultless in their 2023-24 season. Their record has now improved to 7-0 (2-0 in NESCAC). Up next: this evening, the Mammoths travel south to San Antonio, TX, for their two remaining matches of their spring break trip against non-conference opponents. Tomorrow, Amherst will face the #1 Emory University Eagles at 2pm (ET), at the Butch Newman Tennis Center. 

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Mammoths won two of the three doubles matches to earn a 2-1 lead heading into the singles matches.
  • Juniors Kobe Ellenbogen and Sujit Chepuri won both their doubles and singles matches.
  • First-year Rex Harrison clinched the match by winning his singles at the #6 spot with a score of 6-4 6-3.
