#16 Amherst continue their unbeaten season record with 9-0 sweep over #39 Concordia University Texas

AUSTIN, TX – On Monday afternoon, the #16 Amherst College men's tennis team won their first match of their spring break trip in Texas versus the #39 Concordia University Texas Tornadoes.  At the Austin Tennis Academy, the Mammoths eased past the Tornadoes with a perfect 9-0 scoreline.

Amherst's win against Concordia improves their unbeaten season record to 6-0 (2-0 in NESCAC). Up next: the Mammoths stay in Texas until Saturday evening. The\y will play three top-20 teams in the next five days. With a day to practice and recover tomorrow, Amherst will be back in action on Wednesday versus the #17 Southwestern University Pirates. This match will take place at 3pm (ET) on the Pirates' home courts, the Marvin D. Henderson Sr. Tennis Courts, in Georgetown, TX.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Mammoths swept the doubles matches to earn a 3-0 lead heading into the singles matches.
  • First-year Andreas Sillaste and Junior Kobe Ellenbogen remained undefeated this season at the #1 doubles spot.
  • With their singles wins at the #3 and #5 spots respectively, senior Marshall Leung and Junior Sujit Chepuri improved their respective singles records to 6-0 for the season.
