GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

*  Amherst and Williams also played Friday night, a 3-0 Amherst win. The Ephs had not scored a goal in three games coming in and had been shut out in five of their last six games, but they took a 1-0 lead with 5:23 remaining in the first period when Lucie Bond carried the puck into the Amherst zone and from the mid-slot, fired off a wrist shot that deflected off a Mammoth defender and past goaltender Natalie Stott for a 1-0 lead.

* Just over four minutes into the second stanza, Amherst tied it up. Mary Thompson got the play started in her own end, passing the puck up to Maeve Reynolds. Reynolds made a dash through the neutral zone and into the Ephs' end. At the right circle, she made a move to her left to beat an Eph defenders and fired a low shot to the short side of the goal. It appeared that Epg goalie Erin Pye made the initial save, but a sliding Williams defender crashed into her and the puck, pushing it into the goal to tie the game, 1-1.

* It remained 1-1 thanks in part to Stott. Williams' Christine Halloran made a great pass from behind the Amherst goal to Katherine Kang in the slot. Kang's one-timer appeared ticketed for the top left of the Amherst net, but Stott's quick reflexes allowed her to get her blocker on the sphere and prevent the goal.

* Only 4:49 into the final frame, Amherst took the lead. Baxter won a face-off in the Williams zone from the left circle. Alyssa Xu skated onto the puck and slid a pass back to the left point and defender Gretchen Dann. Dann fired a low shot on goal that Pye made a pad save on, but the rebound went directly to Baxter, who quickly wristed a shot into the lower right-hand corner of the goal for a 2-1 Mammoth lead.

* The Ephs defense and Stott did the rest. Emily Hohmann had a big play when Sophia Hoppe broke into the Amherst zone one-on-one. Hohmann held her ground and blocked a dangerous shot. Stott finished with six saves in the final period and 22 for the night.

* With 17.4 seconds left in the contest, Glennon picked u a puck that emerged from a skirmish in her own end, she expertly bounced the puk off the boards past a Williams defender and raced past her to pick it up at center ice, firing a shot into the emtpy net for a 3-1 Amherst lead.
