Five Mammoths Earn USC All-Region I honors

AMHERST, Mass.-- Five members of the Amherst College women's soccer team were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region teams, announced by the organization on December 3.
 
Senior forward Patience Kum (Takoradi, Ghana) and senior defender Charlotte Huang (Arlington, MA) were selected USC First Team All-Region 1. Senior forward Abby Schwartz (Alpharetta, GA) and sophomore midfielder Precious Novidzro (Old Akrade, Ghana) earned USC Second Team All-Region 1, while junior defender Ella Johnson (Seattle, WA) received Third Team USC All-Region 1 selection.
 
Kum earns her fourth straight All-Region accolade, capping off a remarkable career and leading the Mammoths to a historic season. She ends the season with 6 goals and 8 assists, totaling 20 points, and finishing with an impressive 42 goals and 19 assists over her four years. Throughout her career, Kum has been named NESCAC Player of the Year (2022), First Team ALL-NESCAC, First Team All-Region, All-New England, USC First Team All-American, and USC Scholar All-American. 

Huang continues to lead a defensive line that only conceded 12 goals in 22 games. She started all 22 games, playing a total of 1904 minutes, also tallying 2 assists this season. Huang has played a vital role in limiting Amherst's opponents to an average of just 8 shots per game. Earlier this season she received her fourth All-NESCAC honors and finishes out her career as the first ever NESCAC Defender of the Year (2023), also receiving All-New England, 2nd team USC All-American, and USC Scholar All-American.
 
Schwartz finishes the season with 8 goals and 4 assists, with 3 of those goals being game winners. Schwartz has been a consistent attacking presence for the Mammoths, with a total of 33 goals and 19 assists throughout her career. She also receives her third consecutive All-Region selection. In 2023, she was USC First Team All-Region, 2nd Team All-New England, and a CSC Scholar All-American. 

Novidzro, the 2023 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, had another strong season with 3 goals and 6 assists. Her dynamic play as both a midfielder and forward has helped the Mammoths find success and finish the season with the highest recorded shots and corners in the league. To date, she scored 10 goals and has 10 assists over her past two seasons at Amherst.

Johnson received her first USC All-Region accolade this year along with her All-NESCAC Second-Team selection. She has been a key part of the Mammoths defense this season, known for her exceptional defensive skills and composure. She has started all 22 games this season and tallied a total of 2 goals and 8 assists over her 3 years.
