BRUNSWICK, Maine – Sophomore
Charlotte Rasmussen tallied a career-high 20 kills as the Amherst College volleyball team swept Bowdoin College, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20, in a NESCAC clash on Friday night at Morrell Gymnasium.
The Mammoths improved to 4-6 overall and the Polar Bears fell to 6-4, while both teams came away with 1-3 records in NESCAC play.
The Mammoths play the second leg of a weekend road trip on Saturday (Sept. 30), visiting Connecticut College for a 2 p.m. NESCAC clash.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:

Alexandra Trofort and junior
Kinsey Cronin gave the Mammoths a 6-3 lead in the first set, Amherst held the lead for the remainder of the set, but Bowdoin made it interesting late, winning six straight points on Amherst's set point before Trofort provided a kill to clinch the set.
* The Mammoths once again built a lead from a 3-3 tie in the second set. Back-to-back kills by Cronin were followed by an ace from Rasmussen to give Amherst an 8-4 lead. A string of five straight points included two aces from junior libero
Lizzie Papalia to put the Mammoths up, 14-7, and Amherst held on until Rasmussen's second ace of the set closed out the set at 25-19.
* Amherst raced out to a 7-1 lead in the third set on the serve of junior
Anaya Thomas with a stretch that included four kills from Rasmussen. The Polar Bears battled back to tie the set at 9-9 and 16-16 before another Rasmussen kill gave the Mammoths the lead and senior
Chloe Chanren followed with an ace. Chanren ended the match with a block to give Amherst a 25-20 set.
BY THE NUMBERS:
* Cooper led the Mammoths with 23 assists and 16 digs, while Papalia added 15 digs. Cronin was involved in four blocks
* Skye LaMendola led the Polar Bears with 14 kills and Mina Mittler added 10 kills.
