MIDDLEBURY, VT. -- The 11th-ranked Amherst women's soccer team came away with a draw 2-2 in their match against the Middlebury College Panthers.
First year
Jessica Lomo scored her first goal of the season and center back
Fiona Bernet continued to contribute to the team's scoring by capitalizing on a set piece by
Liza Katz.
Todays tie gives the Mammoths a record of 1-0-1 for the season. They will face neighbors Smith College tomorrow at home at 2pm.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
* In the 37th minute, first-year
Jessica Lomo collected a pass just outside left of the 18 and rocketed a curled shot into the right side of the net to put the Mammoths up 1-0.
Middlebury's Joley Virzi scored six minutes later after dribbling inside and taking a shot right outside the middle of the box 2 minutes before half.
Junior
Fiona Bernet got her head on a beautiful free kick served into the box by senior
Liza Katz ten minutes into the second half.
In the final 10 minutes of the game, Middlebury's Emma Binks passed to Ella Gagnon who equalized for the Panthers.

*While the Mammoths led in corner kicks (5 to Middlebury's 3), they were outshot by the Panthers (who had 16 shots to Amherst's 12)
