AMHERST, Mass. -- The Amherst College baseball team suffered a 20-3 defeat to Salve Regina University Wednesday afternoon on Memorial Field.
Amherst fell to 10-8-1 on the season. The Mammoths host rival Williams Friday at 4 p.m. Salve Regina improved to 17-6 on the season.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* The Seahawks scored three in the second and two in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.
Ryan McIntyre led off with a single, took second on a wild pitch, third on a balk and scored on
Jack Dove's groundout to second base.
* The Mammoths added two in the eighth when
Tylon Crump Jr. walked and
Jack Sampedro singled. A.J. Zaccarero walked and a wild pitch allowed Crump Jr. to score.
Luke Padian had a sacrifice fly to score the second run.
BY THE NUMBERS:
* Amherst finished with six hits in the loss. Sampedro was 2 for 5. Dove,
Christian Fagnant and
Michael Perales were each 1 for 2.
