AUBURNDALE, Fla. --
Jack Boyle went 3 for 3 Thursday to spearhead a 12-hit attack as the Amherst College baseball team rolled to a 13-1 victory over Beloit College in game that ended after 7 innings.
The Mammoths improved to 3-1-1 with the victory and conclude their Florida spring break trip with a doubleheader against SUNY-Cobleskill Friday beginning at 9 a.m.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* The Mammoths took a 1-0 lead in the second.
Tyler McCord reached on an error, and with two outs
Christian Fagnant roped an RBI-double to score McCord with an unearned run for the one-run lead. Amherst added two in rhe third when
Jack McDermott lined a one-out double. With two outs,McDermott took third on a wild pitcher as
Jackson Reydel walked.
Luke Padian than lined an opposite-field, two-run double for the 3-0 lead.
* The Mammoths scored four runs on four hits in the fourth to take a 7-1 lead. Boyle led things off with a single. With one out and runners on first and second,
Jack Sampedro came through with an RBI-single. McDermott followed by crushing a ball to straightaway center for a two-run triple. With two outs, Reydel lashed an RBI-single to left for a 7-1 lead.
* First-year
Tristan Kim did the rest, twirling a beauty on the bump, allowing only two hits over six full frames while walking three and fanning five to earn his first collegiate victory.
