AMHERST, Mass. – After the Mammoths won the first set, Colby College won three close sets for a 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22 win over the Amherst College volleyball team in NESCAC action in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday.

Katelyn Hamasaki were honored before their final regular-season game at LeFrak Gymnasium.
The Mammoths conclude the regular season with a record of 7-11 overall and 3-6 in NESCAC play to finish in eighth place, while the Mules wrap up at 17-7 overall with a 7-3 mark in the NESCAC to tie for second place in the conference.
The Mammoths will now host ninth-seeded Connecticut College in the first round of the NESCAC Tournament on Friday (Nov. 3) at 7 p.m. in LeFrak Gymnasium.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
* The Mules won the first six points of the match but the Mammoths followed with five straight points of their own on the serve of junior
Anaya Thomas get right back in the set. A 7-1 Amherst run gave the Mammoths a 13-9 lead before Colby cut the Amherst lead to one. Cooper served up five straight points to give Amherst a 19-13 win and the Mammoths went on to win the set, scoring four of the last five points for a 25-19 win.
* The second set was tight throughout, with the Mammoths taking a 17-13 lead before the Mules came back to tie the set at 17-17. A trio of points on Hamasaki's serve gave the Mammoths a 20-17 lead and Amherst was up 22-20 before Colby won five of the last six points to edge the Mammoths in a 25-23 set.
* The third set saw a run of five straight Colby points give the Mules a 12-8 lead and kept the Mammoths on their heels as they tried to mount a comeback. The two sides traded points for 12 consecutive rallies before a 4-0 Colby spurt had the Mules up, 21-15. The Mammoths scored four straight on Chanren's serve to cut the Colby lead to 23-21, but the Mules scored the next two with a kill from first-year Brady Moseley giving Colby the set by a 25-21 margin.
* The Mammoths built a 12-6 lead in the fourth set before the Mules scored seven straight points to reclaim the lead. The set stayed close from there and was tied at 20-20 before Colby scored five straight points on the serve of first-year Sophie Broesamle to reach set point. The Mammoths kept the match alive by winning the next two points before sophomore Sydney Bopp supplied a kill to end the match.
BY THE NUMBERS:
* Moseley starred for the Mules with a match-high 15 kills to go with 13 digs and 2 aces, while first-year Reanna Yadao notched 38 digs.
* Junior
Kinsey Cronin and sophomore
Charlotte Rasmussen each tallied 12 kills for the Mammoths, while Rasmussen was also in on 4 blocks. Cooper led all players with 26 assists.
