CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Massachusetts Institute of Technology won 14 of 16 events to earn a 205.5-87.5 dual meet victory over the Amherst College women's swimming and diving team on Saturday afternoon at the Zesiger Center.
The Engineers, ranked seventh in the nation in the latest CSCAA Division III poll, improved to 8-3 in dual meets this season, while the 23rd-ranked Mammoths fell to 5-2.
The Mammoths are back in the pool tomorrow (Sunday, Jan. 29), hosting Springfield for the final dual meet of the season. Amherst's seniors will be honored before their final meet at Pratt Pool.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* The Mammoths had their best showing on the diving boards. Sophomore
Sydney Bluestein won the three-meter diving event with an 11-dive score of 516.37. First-year
Donna Zhang finished second with a score of 460.64 and qualified for the NCAA Diving Regionals on the 3m board, while senior
Hannah Colaizzo was third at 447.82. The Mammoths competed on the one-meter board as an exhibition, but Bluestein posted the top score of 502.21.
* Swimming the event for the first time this season, sophomore
Megan Lee won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:45.46.
