GENEVA,, OH. -- Two members of the Amherst College women's track and field team competed on the first day of the NCAA Championships Thursday. The three-day event is taking place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Junior
Sophia Wolmer placed 9th in the 10,000-meter race while first-year
Eliza Cardwell finished 16th in the 400 hurdles. The top eight finishers achieve All-American status.
Both Mammoths earned a trip to the SPIRE Institute in Geneva after finishing among the top-22 competitors nationally in their events.
Friday first-year
Julia Zacher will compete in the high jump in a morning event and Cardwell will be back on the track for the 100 hurdles in the afternoon.
