COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. --
Lauren Friedman scored a free position goal with 3:34 left in overtime Thursday to help the Amherst College women's lacrosse team defeat previously unbeaten McDaniel, 11-10, on the campus of Colorado College.
Friedman's game-winner was only possible after senior
Becky Kendall tallied a tying goal with only 34 seconds remaining in the game. It was the Mammoths only tally in the fourth quarter, a period which saw the Green Terror live up to their nickname by scoring four straight goals to overcome a 9-6 deficit and take a 10-9 lead into the final minute.
Friedman (4), Kendall (3) and
Elizabeth Rose (3) combined to score 10 of Amherst's 11 goals in the win, which improved its record to 3-1.
Fiona Jones had the other Mammoth goal in the game. Amherst is off until Sunday as the Mammoths travel back to New England to take on conference rival Bates in Lewiston, Me.

* In overtime,
Colleen Mooney scooped up a key groundball and helped the Mammoths clear and get the ball across midfield. Coach
