#25 Amherst improves to 4-0 with 168-89 win at Union

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Amherst College women's swimming and diving team won every event it entered to capture a 168-89 win over Union College on Saturday afternoon at Union's Alumni Gym Pool.

The Mammoths, ranked 25th in the nation in the latest CSCAA Division III poll, remained perfect with a 4-0 mark in the dual meet season, while the Dutchwomen fell to 0-4.

The Mammoths are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 7, hosting arch-rival Williams at 1 p.m. at Pratt Pool in a dual meet that will decide the Little Three Championship.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

* The meet began with the Mammoths sweeping the top three spots in the 200-yard medley relay. Senior Grace Tarantola, sophomore Ali Lacroix, junior Lauren Eng and first-year Alex Zorn topped the podium with a time of 1:51.60.

* Tarantola went on to win the 100-yard backstroke for the second time this season, leading an Amherst sweep of the top three spots with a time of 1:01.67.

* Lacroix won the 100-yard breaststroke, as she has done in all four meets this season. Lacroix clocked a 1:08.48 as the Mammoths claimed the top three finishers.

* Eng claimed her first 50-yard freestyle win of the season with a time of 25.28.

* Sophomore Jennifer Adams made her second collegiate start in the 1000-yard freestyle and claimed her first win in the event with a time of 11:20.21.

* Sophomore Megan Lee took on the 200-yard freestyle in her season debut and led an Amherst sweep of the top three finishers with a mark of 1:58.06 for her third collegiate win in the event.

* First-year Diane Koo continued her success in the 200-yard butterfly, winning the event for the third time in as many collegiate starts with a time of 2:13.59.

* Sophomore Sydney Bluestein won the one-meter diving competition with a six-dive score of 260.02. Bluestein has won the 1m diving event in all four meets this season.

* First-year Kate Aubrecht earned her first collegiate win with a time of 54.99 in the 100-yard freestyle.

* First-year Emory Tudor won the 200-yard backstroke for the second time this season with a time of 2:11.29.

* Junior Sabrina Comess bookended 2022 with wins in the 200-yard breaststroke against Union, posting a time of 2:37.38 in today's meet. Her last win in the event came against Union on Jan. 1, 2022.
