GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* Amherst took a 1-0 lead 6:12 into the second quarter when
Justine Liguori sent a sharp pass across the Wesleyan circle that found the stick of D'Alleva. The senior sniper fired a shot that beat the Cardinal keeper on the short side for her eighth goal of the season.
* Wesleyan tied the score with just over a minute to go before halftime. But only 15.5 seconds later, Mazambani scored a beautiful goal set up by junior
Gwen Allen. Allen stole a pass off the stick of a Cardinal defender in the Wesleyan zone. She worked her way down to the baseline and then creatively dribbled her way past two Cardinal defenders along the baseline before she was able to slide a pass out to the front of the goal.
Sam Maynard got a stick on the pass and the ball popped up into the air, Mazambani one-touched the ball to herself, then backhanded it out of mid-air and into the net to regain the lead for Mammoths.
* Maynard added an insurance goal in the final quarter. She received an in-bounds pass on the left side of the field and stick handled down to the baseline, maneuvering her way around two defenders and then deking the goalie before sliding a nicely paced shot into the empty goal. It was her third goal of the season.
