GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Looking to grab the lead in the 19th minute, a perfect leading pass from midfield from Abby Schwartz '24 gave Natalie Landau '22 a breakaway opportunity, but a standout play from Lions' keeper Amara Schaub kept the home team scoreless and she came off her line to cut down the angle and made a diving kick save on Landau before racking up another stop on an attempt by Alexa Juarez '22 on the rebound.
  • Returning the favor with 17 minutes remaining in the first half,  Simone Barragan-Shaw also had a 1-v-0 chance as she stole the ball from an Amherst defender at the top of the box, but the Mammoths registered a team save to keep the game scoreless.
  • Breaking through at the 36:46 mark, senior Julia Ralph notched her first goal of the fall, and what stood as the game-winner, following a free kick from the right of the goalie box as she headed Sophia Fikke's '22 dish inside the far left post.
  • Doubling the Mammoths' advantage less than two minutes later, Fikke chipped a shot past the Lions' keeper from point blank range after Patience Kum '25 lost her footing near the goal line and tapped the ball back to Fikke.
  • Adding an insurance tally with 36:21 on the clock in the second half, Ruby Hastie '22 raced down the right sideline and sent a dish to Izzy Geneve '23 sprinting towards frame who one-touched the ball forward and powered a sliding shot inside the near post.
  • The Lions had another solid opportunity to get on the board in the 55th minute, drawing a foul and free kick from 20 yards out, but the attempt by Gina Lukoskie following the kick rang off the left post.
  • Senior Natalie Landau added one final marker for Amherst with 9:24 remaining in regulation, as she converted on a penalty kick following an Emerson handball in the box to lift the Mammoths to the 4-0 victory.
