AMHERST, Mass. – Totaling eight goals on the weekend, the Amherst College women's soccer team powered past Bowdoin, 3-0, and Smith, 5-0, to improve to 3-0-0 on the season.

The Mammoths return to action next Saturday, Sept. 18 when they host Hamilton College in a 12:00pm conference bout.
AMHERST Def. BOWDOIN, 3-0
- Breaking through in the 24th minute, senior Ruby Hastie tallied what stood as the game-winner in the shut out, pulling the ball away from a scrum just outside the box, cutting left, and sneaking a shot inside the far right post.
- Putting the visitors ahead 2-0 before intermission, Hastie once again beat the Polar Bears netminder in a great individual effort play as she juked out a defender, hesitated, and ripped a low shot near side.
- Tacking on an insurance dagger at 53:45, Hastie capped off the hat trick via a conversion on a penalty kick following a Bowdoin foul in the box.
- Amherst held the advantage in shot on goal, 8-5, and corner kick, 5-4.
- Earning the start in frame, Mika Fisher '24 (2-0-0) recorded five saves for the Mammoths in the clean sheet, while the Bowdoin keepers combined for five stops.
AMHERST Def. SMITH, 5-0
- Hastie opened scoring with her fourth goal in two games with 35:38 in the clock in the opening frame, cutting across the top of the box and ripping a low shot into the opposite corner.
- Doubling the home team's advantage two minutes later, Alexa Juarez '23 teamed up with Sophia Fikke '22 on a perfectly placed corner kick to send a header from the middle of the box into the nylon.
- Finding the back of the net in a highlight reel play, first-year Patience Kum registered an unassisted tally in the 49th minute to push the score the 3-0 after dribbling through six Smith defenders and sending a left-footed drive into the top left corner.
- Her second multi-goal game of the young season, Kum struck again with 38:14 remaining in the second half. One-touch passes from Liza Katz '24 and Natalie Landau '22 set up the score, with Kum beating her defender to the through ball and chipping a shot past the Pioneers' keeper who came off her line in an effort to cut down the angle.
- Looking to get on the board 58th minute, Natalie Dionne nearly capitalized on a Smith free kick from 30 yards out, but her shot rang off the crossbar.
- Threatening once again on the ensuing corner kick, Zufan Bazzano forced a stellar stop by Fisher as the Mammoths' keeper countered a header by Bazzano with a kick save.
- Sierra Rosado '25 potted the Mammoths' final tally of the contest with an assist from Katz, redirecting a cross over the goal line.
- Fisher (3-0-0) earned the win in frame for Amherst, making seven stops, while Naomi Falkenberg registered five saves for Smith in the losing effort.
