MORRISTOWN, N.J. -- Senior guard Devonn Allen scored a season-best 16 points to lead the Amherst College men's basketball team to a 73-51 win over St. Elizabeth University on Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph Gym.
The Mammoths (7-0), ranked 21st in the nation in the latest D3hoops poll, continue their best start since opening the season with eight straight wins in 2016, while the Eagles (0-8) are still in search of their first win this season.
The Mammoths are back in action on Tuesday (Dec. 7), visiting Western Massachusetts rival Springfield at 7:30 p.m.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Mammoths opened the game on an 11-0 run and never trailed. A 14-0 run midway through the first half pushed the lead over 20 points and the Mammoths took a 46-19 lead to the half.
- The Mammoths pushed the lead as high as 34 in the second half before the Eagles responded with a 15-4 run but could not get back within 20 points before the final buzzer.

- First-year Noah Helmke tallied his first double-digit scoring game in his seventh collegiate game with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
- Senior captain Garrett Day matched his career high of 5 steals to go with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
