HARTFORD, Conn. -- Bantams quarterback Spencer Fetter threw five touchdown passes to lead Trinity College to a 49-7 win over the Amherst College football team in NESCAC action on Saturday afternoon at Jessee/Miller Field.
The Mammoths (5-3) return home to close the regular season with the 135th playing of The Biggest Little Game in America against undefeated Williams on Saturday, November 13, at noon on Pratt Field at Lehrman Stadium. An Amherst win in the historic rivalry game will earn the Mammoths the Little Three title and give the Bantams (7-1) a chance to clinch a share of the NESCAC title as they visit Wesleyan next week.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- After Amherst forced a three-and-out on Trinity's first drive of the game, the Bantams found the end zone on their next three drives with a pair of Fetter passes to Devante Reid and a rush from William Kirby giving the Bantams a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- Fetter threw two more touchdown passes in the second quarter and Reid ran in a score in the third before Fetter found Thomas Walsh in the end zone to cap the Trinity scoring in the fourth quarter.
- The Mammoths got on the board late in the fourth quarter as sophomore quarterback Brad Breckenridge capped a 14-play, 75-yard drive with a 4-yard run for his fifth rushing touchdown of the season. Breckenridge found senior wide receiver PJ Clementi for a 25-yard reception on third down to move the Mammoths to the Trinity 2-yard line and set up Breckenridge's touchdown rush.
- Senior defensive back Michael Jeffery was in on a career-high 9 tackles, including 5 solo tackles.
