Brunswick, ME - The 3
rd seeded Bowdoin Polar Bears knocked out the 6
th seeded Amherst Mammoths with a lone goal in the first quarter of the NESCAC quarterfinals.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
-Bowdoin got a tally on the board early, which served to be the only goal of the match, when the Polar Bears earned a penalty corner and converted 1:09 into the game. Manveer Sandhu fired a shot near post to Caroline Higgins who tipped the ball past the goal line.
-The next two quarters consisted of relentless midfield play by both sides.
-The Mammoths had some of their best offensive chances in the 4
th quarter, earning three penalty corners and sending three shots on goal, which were all turned away by the Polar Bears keeper.
Beth Williamson and
Abbey Kays both had two shots for the Mammoths.
-Amherst edged Bowdoin in corners, 6-5, while Bowdoin led in shots 8-4.
-Sophomore
Sara Nidus had four saves on the day.
-Amherst ends the 2021 season with an overall record of 11-5 (6-4 in NESCAC play).
