MEDFORD, Mass – The Amherst College women's volleyball team traveled to Cousens Gymnasium at Tufts University on Friday night and were bested by the Jumbos in a three-set sweep. The Mammoths dropped to 11-2 overall on the season and 5-2 in NESCAC play. Tufts was ranked #24 in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Poll with a 14-4 overall record and 5-2 mark in NESCAC play.
The Jumbos were able to control the flow of the match early and recorded more kills, aces, and digs than the Mammoths. Winning in three consecutive sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-22), Tufts was led by Cate Desler and her 19 kills on 37 attempts (.432 percentage). Christine Audette and Rileigh Farragher recorded nine kills each and Stephanie Lee finished the match with 24 digs.
The Mammoths were led offensively by the trio of
Caroline Tilton '23,
Sophie Launsbach '22, and
Jamie Dailey '22. Tilton had 12 kills and two blocks, Launsbach recorded nine kills on 16 attempts, and Dailey finished with nine kills, 10 digs, and three service aces. Dailey currently leads the NESCAC in kills per set at 4.02.
Carly Cooper '24 supported the offensive attack with 25 assists, as well as two kills and seven digs, and
Lizzie Papalia '25 finished with eight digs.
