Box Score AMHERST, Mass. – Connor Green '16 recorded game-highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds as the fourth-ranked Amherst College men's basketball team defeated Westfield State University in its first road game of the season Tuesday night, 89-65 at the Woodward Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Amherst hit 16 three-pointers as a team, and shot 48.5% (32-66) from the floor, 43.2% (16-37) from deep and 90.0% (9-10) from the free throw line.
- Joining Green in double-figures were Jeff Racy '17, Johnny McCarthy '18, David George '17 and Michael Riopel '18. Racy scored 20 on 6-of-11 shooting from downtown, McCarthy added 12 points and tied a career-high with seven assists, and George and Riopel both dropped 10 points each. McCarthy and George each had two blocks, and Reid Berman '17 dished out six assists.
- Westfield State went 39.3% (22-56) from the field, 33.3% (3-9) from three-point range and 72.0% (18-25) from the charity stripe.
- The Owls were led by Jesus Sanchez with 14 points, while Shane Pasquantonio added 11. Allister Williams grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and led the team in assists with two.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Westfield State kept the game within striking distance through most of the first half.
- The Owls cut the deficit to five, 37-32 following a three-pointer from Williams with 2:15 to play in the opening stanza.
- However, Amherst netted the final six points of the half to take a 43-32 advantage at the break.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Amherst pulled away early in the second half with a 24-8 run within the first eight minutes, which was capped off by a pair of Riopel free throws as the visitor's took a 67-40 lead.
- Racy made four three-pointers during the decisive run as Amherst put the game out of reach.

- Amherst is back in action Saturday, Dec. 5 for a non-conference road game against Emerson slated for 1 p.m.
- Westfield State returns to the court Thursday, Dec. 3 and will play Western Connecticut State at 7 p.m.
