HARTFORD, Conn. – Six different Purple & White players scored for the 19th-ranked Amherst College women's soccer team as it cruised to a decisive 6-0 shutout victory over NESCAC foe Trinity College Tuesday afternoon.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Playing with intensity from the opening whistle, it would take just 13 minutes for the Purple and White to take a 2-0 lead.
- Taking advantage of a corner kick, Ashlyn Heller '17 found Delancey King's '18 rebound and scored her second goal of the season and the game-winner in the eighth minute of play.
- Megan Kim '16 doubled Amherst's lead less than five minutes later, notching an unassisted tally for her third goal of the year.
- Emily Hester '17 tallied her team-leading ninth goal of the season in the 36th minute. She is now tied for second in the NESCAC in goals and is third in the NESCAC in points with 20.
- Rachael Abernethy '16 increased Amherst's lead to four with 13:10 remaining in the game. Collecting a pass from Hannah Guzzi '18 near the top of the box, Abernethy juked a defender and fired a shot into the left corner of the goal.
- Maeve McNamara '19 made it a 5-0 contest three minutes later; finding the pass from Abernethy near the right corner of the field and sending a shot over the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper and into the top left corner of the goal.
- First-year Mia Bongiorno scored the games final goal in the 83rd minute, intercepting a pass from a Trinity defender and sending a shot just over the goaltender's fingertips.
- Amherst held the advantage in shots, 21-10, while both the Purple & White and Trinity earned eight corner kicks.
- Senior goalkeeper Holly Burwick registered six saves in 78:51 of action, while first-year Chelsea Cutler posted 11:09 of play in a relief effort. Hester and Meredith Manley '18 led the way offensively for Amherst, taking five and four shots, respectively.
- Bantam goaltender Monica DiFlori recorded nine saves in 78:51, while Julia Pitino made notched 11:51 of action after entering the game in a relief effort. Taylor Kirchgessner put a team-high three shots on frame for Trinity.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Amherst scored a season-high six goals in today's game.
- The Purple & White close out the regular season having allowed just six goals in 14 games. Prior to today's game, their 0.45 goals-against average ranked 20th in the nation and first in the NESCAC.
- Never failing to qualify since its inception, Amherst will play in its 15th consecutive NESCAC Championship Tournament this season. Amherst, along with Bowdoin, Middlebury and Williams, are the only NESCAC women's soccer programs to have accomplished this feat.
