Box Score LEWISTON, Maine – The No. 14 Amherst field hockey team used three first half goals by three different Purple & White players to power past NESCAC opponent Bates College 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Campus Ave Field.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- With 17:58 remaining in the first half, Elizabeth Turnbull '18 scored her second goal of the season and gave Amherst the 1-0 lead. After a failed clearing effort by the Bobcat defense, junior Sara Culhane gathered the loose ball and sent a pass across the circle to E. Turnbull who one-timed a shot into the netting.
- Katie Paolano '16 double Amherst's lead with 2:47 on the clock. In an impressive play, Annika Nygren '16 sent a hard pass from the right sideline towards Paolano who was able to tip the pass into the goal.
- Culhane notched her team-leading 12th goal of the season less than two minutes later. Taking advantage of Amherst's seventh penalty corner opportunity of the game, Culhane redirected the shot of E. Turnbull past the Bobcat netminder and into the goal. Culhane now ranks fourth in the NESCAC in goals this season.
- Amherst held the advantage in both shots and corner opportunities 15-8 and 8-4, respectively.
- Junior goalkeeper Emily Horwitz registered two saves in the win, while Paolano and E. Turnbull led the Purple & White in shots with three apiece.
- Bobcat netminder Cristina Vega made two saves in 35 minutes of action, while Katie Knox collected one save in between the pipes in a relief effort. Adah Lindquist led Bates College in shots on the day with three.
