Box Score KEENE, N.H. – Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Horwitz recorded the shutout as the 11th-ranked Amherst College field hockey team earned a 2-0 non-conference win on the road Wednesday night against Keene State.
The Jeffs improved to 3-2 on the year, while dropping the Owls to 2-2 overall.
In just over nine minutes of action, Madeline Tank '15 found Ellie Andersen '15 who sent one to the back of the net for the eventual game-winner and her first of the year.
Less than a minute later, the visitors recorded an insurance tally as Caroline Fiore '18 scored on a penalty stroke at the 10:38 mark for her second collegiate goal.
Amherst's defense held strong as Horwitz earned the win with a five-save shutout. Meaghan Dwyer recorded eight shots but allowed two goals to take the loss for Keene State.
The Jeffs held a 15-to-7 shot advantage and 5-to-3 edge in penalty corners.
Amherst returns to action Saturday, Sept. 20 to host archrival and 18th-ranked Williams beginning at 11 a.m.
