Jeffs Fall to Lake Forest, 3-1

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Amherst men's ice hockey team lost a non-conference matchup to Lake Forest College on Saturday night, 3-1. Forester goaltender Leo Podolsky stopped 22 of 23 shots on goal on the night.

The Foresters are now 10-8-1 with the win while the Jeffs fall to 9-6-1.

A dozen of Podolsky's saves were recorded in the decisive third period, which began with the score tied at one.

Aaron Deutsch '15 scored the first goal of the night at the 5:19 mark of the opening period to give Amherst a 1-0 lead. He was assisted by Chris Roll '17.

However, Lake Forest tied the score at the 14:57 mark of the second period on freshman forward Jimmy Cusan's first career goal. He was assisted by sophomore defenseman Will Seeber.

The official game-winning goal went to freshman forward Anthony Annunziato, who converted a power play opportunity two minutes and 23 seconds into the final period. His fourth goal of the year was set up by teammate Jack Lewis.

Amherst returns to the rink on Saturday, Feb. 1 to face Trinity in a NESCAC matchup at 7:30 p.m.
