WESTFIELD, Mass. - Lizzie Ahern '16 hammered home 18 kills to lead the Amherst women's volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-16, 24-26, 25-10, 25-19) victory over Westfield State.

After splitting the first two sets, the Jeffs (8-5) notched a 25-10 win in a pivotal third frame before securing a 25-19 decision in the fourth.

Ahern added three aces and a block, while Emily Waterhouse '13 tallied nine kills and one service ace. Sammy Newby '16 finished with seven kills and three blocks, while Nicole Carter '16 put forth a solid all-around effort, registering 28 assists, 10 digs and six aces. Kristin Keeno '13 chipped in with a team-high 11 digs.

Amherst returns to action on Friday, Oct. 12 against Middlebury. Prior to the start of their 8 p.m. match with the Panthers, the Jeffs will honor members of the Class of 2013 as part of the program's Senior Day festivities.
