Jeffs Snap Three-Game Win Streak With 2-1 Loss at Colby

WATERVILLE, ME - The Amherst College men's ice hockey team snapped its three-game win streak with a 2-1 loss at Colby College. The Lord Jeffs fall to 10-6-3 overall (8-4-2 NESCAC) and will continue their weekend in Maine with a trip to Bowdoin College Saturday at 3 p.m.

Colby's T.J. Kelley broke a 14-minute scoreless drought by giving the White Mules a 1-0 lead with assists from Matt Ahern and Mike White. It took Amherst less than five minutes of second-period action to tie things up, as senior defenseman Mike McIntosh (Soldotna, AK) found the back of the net with junior Joel Covelli (Carlisle, ON) picking up the assist. The goal marked the only power play opportunity either team could convert on the night.

The White Mules regained the lead midway through the second stanza when Mike Butler and Brendan Shea set up Arthur Fritch for the eventual game-winner, as neither team could score in the final 27 minutes of action.

First-year Cole Anderson made 22 saves in the losing effort, while Cody McKinney stopped 20 shots to earn the win. With less than a month to go before the postseason kicks off, Colby stands comfortably in second place in the conference standings at 11-6-1 (10-3-1 NESCAC), while the Lord Jeffs are holding on to the fourth spot.
