Volleyball Falls To Williams, Blanks Middlebury, Hamilton at NESCAC Quad

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Amherst volleyball team had a seven-match winning streak snapped with a 3-0 (30-17, 30-25, 30-25) loss at Williams College on Friday night, but rebounded with a pair of 3-0 victories over Middlebury (30-28, 30-13, 30-17) and Hamilton (30-18, 30-6, 30-15) Colleges on Saturday, as part of a four-team NESCAC quad, hosted by Williams. The Jeffs ran their record to 9-2 overall, 2-1 in the NESCAC after their first weekend of conference play.

Junior setter Annie Hoeksma (Los Angeles, CA) paced Amherst with 23 assists, nine kills and seven digs in the loss to Williams, while rookie Kristin Quinn (Los Angeles, CA) added 12 kills and three blocks and senior co-captain Lauren Wong (San Francisco, CA) chipped in with seven kills and four blocks.

Against Middlebury, Amherst first-year Megan Ingraham (Pleasant Hill, CA) led the way with 11 kills, thanks in part to a 32-assist outing by Hoeksma.

In the win over Hamilton, Davidson did the most damage with 15 kills, Hoeksma handed out 32 assists and Quinn finished with 10 kills and three blocks.

Sophomore Kate Raddock (Stamford, CT) was a force on defense, combining for 38 digs in the three matches.

The Jeffs return to action this Friday and Saturday, hosting the Amherst Volleyball Classic.
