Jeffs Go 3-1 at Wesleyan Invitational With Wins Over Smith, Trinity and Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, CT - After dropping its opening match to Springfield College 3-2 on Friday, the Amherst College volleyball team rebounded to defeat Smith College, 3-0, and posted a pair of 3-1 wins over Trinity College and host Wesleyan University on Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational.

The Jeffs mounted a 2-0 lead on Springfield before dropping the final three sets and posting their third loss of the year (31-29, 30-28, 20-30, 18-30 12-15). Amherst improved its overall record to 16-3, dropping only two games in consecutive victories over Smith (30-19, 30-28, 30-22), Trinity (30-19, 24-30, 30-18, 30-24) and Wesleyan (30-26, 28-30, 30-28, 30-20).

First-year Kristin Quinn nabbed All-Tournament honors, posting a combined 47 kills and 33 blocks over the four matches. Junior Annie Hoeksma dished out 140 assists in the tournament, while classmate Nicole Davidson tallied 39 kills. Sophomore Kate Raddock led the Jeffs' defense with 61 digs.

Amherst returns to action Friday at 8 p.m. against Wesleyan University in a NESCAC Quad match hosted by Trinity College.
