GORHAM, ME - The Amherst men's hockey team dropped its third straight game on Saturday night, falling at the University of Southern Maine, 5-3. Trailing 3-0 midway through the third period, the Jeffs rallied to knot the score at 3-3 with goals by reigning NESCAC Player of the Week Scott Aldrich, Ted Bickel and Brad Craigen. Southern Maine junior forward Chad Lauze notched the game-winner with just under three minutes remaining, however, and tacked on an empty net goal to seal the victory shortly thereafter.
Southern Maine, which improved to 4-10-0 and 1-8-0, will travel to UMass Boston on Friday, while Amherst, which slipped to 3-9-2 and 3-5-1, will host Skidmore on Friday.
Junior goalie J.R. Wappel turned aside 19 shots for the Huskies, while senior netminder Justin Jagher made 17 for the Lord Jeffs.
