HARTFORD, CT - Sophomore forward Scott Aldrich (Wilmington, MA) tallied his second goal of the contest with two seconds remaining in regulation to help the Amherst College men's hockey team salvage a 3-3 tie at NESCAC foe Trinity College on Saturday evening. The Jeffs move to 3-6-2 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play while the Bantams - ranked 14th in the nation - went to 6-2-2 and 5-0-1.
Trailing 2-0 midway through the second period, Jeff first-year forward Steve Nelson (Wayzata, MN) pierced the scoring column with his fourth goal of the season on the power play. Aldrich notched his first goal 1:53 into the third to even the score at 2-2. Moments later, Trinity countered with a power play goal to regain the lead, 3-2. Aldrich scored with two seconds remaining in the third, assisted by classmate forward Beau Kretzman (Edina, MN).
Senior netminder Justin Jagher (Framingham, MA) finished with 21 saves for the Jeffs, while Bantam goaltender Doug Kisielius recorded 10.
Amherst returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. against visiting NESCAC foe Hamilton College.
