Jeffs Blanked by Bowdoin, 2-0

 



BRUNSWICK, ME - After stunning 13th ranked Springfield College in overtime on Wednesday the Amherst College field hockey team was blanked at Bowdoin College, 2-0, Saturday at Ryan Field. Polar Bear senior Leah McClure paced the hosts with a pair of goals while Jeff sophomore goaltender K.C. Cosentino (Greenwich, CT) was stellar in net, notching 25 saves. 

Bowdoin pierced the scoring column 16:20 into the contest when McClure tallied her first goal, giving the hosts a 1-0 advantage at the break. McClure struck again 19:33 into the second stanza taking a feed from junior Amanda Burrage and blasting a shot into the back of the net. Bowdoin netminder Gillian McDonald recorded a pair of saves to earn the shutout. 

With the loss, the Jeffs drop to 3-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play while the Polar Bears improve to 5-1 and 2-1. 

Amherst returns to action Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against visiting non-league foe Mount Holyoke College.
