Field Hockey Claims Seventh Seed in NESCAC Tourney with 1-0 Overtime Victory at Trinity

AMHERST, MA - Senior forward Abby Ouimet (Hatfield, MA) notched the game-winner in the fourth minute of overtime to give the visiting Amherst College field hockey team a thrilling 1-0 victory at conference rival Trinity College on Saturday. With the win, the Jeffs (7-7/4-5) claimed the seventh and final spot in the NESCAC Championship Tournament and will meet second-seeded host Williams College - whom the Jeffs downed earlier this week - Sunday at 1 p.m. 

Jeff rookie goalkeeper Anne McMullin (St. Louis, MO) finished with seven saves en route to her fourth shutout of the season while Bantam netminder Gwen Gillespie recorded six. 

Listed below are the final regular season NESCAC field hockey standings as well as tiebreak explanations and first-round matchups. All first round games are scheduled for noon on Sunday, November 3.

^ Bowdoin tied atop the NESCAC standings with Williams at 7-2 but earned the number one seed having defeated Williams in regular season play. 

* Wesleyan earned the highest seed of the three teams tied for fourth at 5-4 through a predetermined tiebreaking procedure. While Colby, Wesleyan and Bates tied in head-to-head competition, Wesleyan and Colby had a better record against the top four seeds, including all teams tied for that position. Wesleyan defeated Colby 2-0 in an earlier meeting this year.
