Jeffs Win Sixth Straight; Ice Wentworth 7-1

BOSTON, MA - Six different Amherst College men's ice hockey players scored, including a pair of goals from junior Dave Moore (Randolph, MA), as the Jeffs broke open a one-goal game with three second-period scores in a 7-1 victory at Wentworth Institute of Technology on Tuesday night. Sophomore net minder Jaffrie Perrotti (Winthrop, MA) made his second start of the season, stopping 19 of the 20 shots he faced en route to the victory, the Jeffs' sixth in a row.

Wentworth almost escaped the first period unscathed, but Moore broke through with a right-handed wrist shot, assisted by defensemen Erich Schram (Madison, WI) and Jim Smith (Rochester, MN) just three seconds before the first intermission. Junior Greg Carr (Hanover, MA), sophomore Erik DiNardo (North Reading, MA) and Moore all scored in the second period, while senior Tri-captain Darce Swaggert (Wayzata, MN) opened the third with his second goal of the season, assisted by first-year defenseman Josh Hoffman (Ambler, PA) off a quick outlet pass from Perrotti. Seniors Rob Hill (Averil Park, NY) and Ben Kennedy (Brockton, MA) added a pair of insurance goals in the final 10 minutes, as the Jeffs scored seven or more goals for the third time this season.

Wentworth's Michael Nicoletta spoiled the shutout for Perrotti with the Leopards' lone goal 7:01 into the third period. Perrotti earned ECAC/Heaton Goaltender of the Week honors last season after posting a 5-0 shutout over Wentworth on Dec. 7.

Amherst, now 6-1 on the season, travels to non-league foe Plattsburgh State this Saturday at 7 p.m.
