Jess Lapachinski was appointed associate director of athletics in June 2024, after serving as the assistant director of athletics for business operations since October 2022. In her current role at Amherst, she manages the department’s budgeting and forecasting, overseeing operating funds, endowments, gift accounts and reserves. She also directs equipment operations and team travel for the Mammoths’ 27 athletic teams. Lapachinski works closely with various campus departments, including Human Resources, the Controller’s Office, Procurement and Finance & Administration.
Before joining Amherst, Lapachinski spent 12 years at Deerfield Academy, where she was involved in athletic administration, fundraising and community engagement. She also coached varsity softball and taught health education. During her time at Deerfield, she developed and implemented a leadership curriculum for student-athletes.
Lapachinski holds degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Northeastern University and Springfield College. She is a certified strength and conditioning coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is currently working toward her CMPC certification as a mental performance consultant with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
