Jack Hughes joined the Amherst College football coaching staff in 2026. Hughes coaches the Mammoths' outside linebackers.
Hughes came to Amherst from the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as the defensive quality control and assistant safeties coach during the 2025 season. He also coached the scout punt return and block unit, helping the Quakers’ punt unit lead the nation in punt return defense as the only FCS team to hold opponents to negative punt return yards on the season.
A 2025 graduate of John Carroll University, Hughes earned a degree in marketing with a minor in leadership. He spent two seasons as a student assistant coach with the Blue Streaks for defensive quality control and the defensive line, helping John Carroll post a 17-5 record and earn a berth to the 2024 NCAA Division III Tournament.
During the summer of 2024, Hughes also worked as a recruiting and operations assistant at Davidson College, supporting the Wildcats’ high-academic recruiting efforts and summer camps.
