Nick Sullivan joins the Mammoths' men's and women's golf programs as an assistant coach for his first season in 2020-21.
A 2020 graduate of Amherst College with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science, Sullivan also serves as the 2020-21 Edward Hitchcock Fellow and assists the Athletic Department and Athletic Communications office in addition to his coaching duties.
A four-year member of the Amherst men's golf team, Sullivan was awarded the Friends of Amherst Athletics Award following a senior season in which he impressed on the course. A native of Simsbury, Conn., Sullivan turned in a top-25 performance at the Williams Fall Invitational in 2020 with a career-low 151 (76-75) and finished his final campaign with a 76.67 stroke average, his best as a Mammoth. Battling to an 8-2-2 career record in Little Three matches, Sullivan tied for the most victories and owned the highest winning percentage in his Class against rivals Williams and Wesleyan.
Off the course, Sullivan was a member of Amherst LEADS, a voting member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), a co-host of the radio show “Garbage Time” on WAHM Amherst College Radio, and was the public address announcer in Lefrak Gymnasium for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Nick was also recognized as the Amherst College Student-Athlete of the Month in May 2019 and was profiled by the NESCAC in their
Friday Feature series on Sept. 27, 2019.
Graduating from Simsbury High School in 2016 where he played soccer, ice hockey, and golf, Sullivan owns the distinction of being a two-time captain and notably led his golf team to a state championship in his senior season. He was also a two-time All Central Connecticut Conference (CCC) selection in golf. Outside of athletics, Sullivan was a member of National Honor Society, won two state championships as a competing member of the Simsbury chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and delivered the student address at the Simsbury High School 2016 Commencement.
Previously, Sullivan worked with Showtime Sports and the National Basketball Association (NBA) in internship capacities, and has contributed to a number of publications with his sports writing.
Nick is an obsessive Boston sports fan, an avid movie lover, and a hopelessly hooked golfer. His father Neil ’88 is also an Amherst graduate, his mother Marcie graduated from Mount Holyoke College, and his twin sister Kelsey boasts a degree from Carleton College – where she too played golf.
