Matthew Travis

Travis joined the Amherst staff in the summer of 2016 and began his second stint as an assistant coach of the Amherst College men’s soccer staff in 2019.

In 2019, Travis helped guide the Mammoths to a 19-2-2 record and a National Runner-Up finish in the NCAA Tournament. The 19 wins are the most in a single season in the program’s history.

In his first two seasons at Amherst, 2016 and 2017, Travis helped guide the Mammoths to a 29-5-5 overall record and a 14-3-3 mark in conference play. The Mammoths also won the 2016 NESCAC Conference Tournament Title and earned two trips to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Travis was a member of the Mammoths’ staff that was named New England Regional Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches in 2016 and 2019.

A 2014 graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education before completing his Master’s degree in Leadership Management at Montreat College in Black Mountain, N.C. While at Montreat College, Travis also served as a two-year graduate assistant men’s soccer coach.

Travis, who holds a NSCAA Advanced Diploma, also worked as a state staff coach for the Olympic Development Program during his time in North Carolina.
