Sports Medicine Staff

Maria Rello, MS, LAT, ATC
Maria joined the sports medicine staff at Amherst College in 1988 as an assistant athletic trainer and now serves as the director of the sports medicine program. She received a bachelor of science degree in 1989 and a master of science degree in 1994 from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Her primary sport responsibilities are field hockey, swimming and diving, club sports, and students not associated with a sport. When not at work, Maria enjoys spending time with her family including her wife, Allison, and their children, Denison, Zachary and Matteo.

Mark Klingensmith, LAT, ATC 
Mark joined the sports medicine staff at Amherst College in 1991 and was hired full-time as an associate athletic trainer in 1995. He received a B.S. in physical education with a concentration in athletic training from Westfield State College in 1991. He has worked as a self-employed personal trainer since 1994.

His primary sport responsibilities are football, men's lacrosse and squash and he assists with track & field.

Kathy Jekanowski, MS, LAT, ATC, CSCS 
Kathy joined the Amherst College sports medicine staff in the fall of 2005. She received her B.S. in movement science with a concentration in athletic training from Westfield State College in 1996 and was a member of the women's basketball team. She earned her M.Ed. in applied exercise science with a concentration in strength and conditioning from Springfield College in 2002.

Her primary sport responsibilities are men's soccer, women's ice hockey and tennis and she assists with track & field.

Evan Ostrowski, MS, LAT, ATC
Evan joined the sports medicine staff at Amherst College in the fall of 2014. He received his B.S. in athletic training in 2012 and M.S. in physical education with a concentration in exercise science in 2014 from Central Connecticut State University.

His primary sport responsibilities are football, men's basketball, softball and golf and he assists with track & field.

Kevin Konstant, MS, LAT, ATC
Kevin Konstant joined the Amherst College sports medicine staff in September of 2023.

Prior to arriving at Amherst, Konstant was an assistant athletic trainer at American International College, where he also acted as the assistant athletic director for sports medicine from November 2022 through August 2023.. At AIC, Konstant primarily worked with women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's basketball, men's and women's rugby, and baseball and assisted with football.

His primary sport responsibilities are women's soccer, men's hockey and baseball.

Peng-Wen Washington-Ling, PHD, LAT, ATC
Peng-Wen Washington-Ling joined the Amherst College sports medicine staff in September of 2023. 

Washington-Ling did her clinical rotation at Amherst College. She graduated from Westfield State in 2022 with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training. 

Prior to that, Washington-Ling completed her doctoral studies at Springfield College, earning her PhD in psychology in 2017. 

Her primary sport responsibilities are volleyball, women's basketball and women's lacrosse.

AT Daniel Myers Daniel Myers, MA, LAT, ATC, FMSC

Dan Myers joined the Sports Medicine Staff at Amherst College in August of 2024. He received his B.A. in Athletic training from Messiah University in 2018, and a M.A. in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from Messiah University in 2024. Prior to Amherst College, Dan worked as a per diem athletic trainer covering athletic tournaments in Delaware. Before that he worked as an athletic trainer at Washington College from August 2021 through May 2023. 

Dan also has a FMS certification. His primary sport responsibilities are Women's Basketball and Track & Field. In his free time Dan enjoys watching and playing sports, being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and playing video games.

                                                  For any non-acute/non-emergent injury, please contact the athletic trainer that works with your sport to set up an appointment. They will then coordinate your care.
All acute injuries will be seen by whichever athletic trainer is working during the time of injury.
