DIRECTIONS & PARKING INFORMATION
Amherst College is approximately two hours from downtown Boston,
two and a half hours from Logan Airport and three hours north of
New York City. If you need an address to plug into a GPS or an
online web mapping service, use the following:

FROM EAST/WEST
(Rhode Island, Boston)
Route 146 North/West to I-90 West
Take I-90 West (Mass Turnpike) to Exit 4 (I-91)
Take I-91 North to exit 19 (Rte. 9)
Take Rte. 9 East to Rte. 116 South
These roads intersect at a stoplight at the top of a hill. Locate
the facility below and follow to your destination.
FROM NORTH/SOUTH
(New York, Trinity, Middlebury, Wesleyan, Williams)
From Williams take Rte. 2 East to I-91 South
From Middlebury take Rte. 7 South to Rte. 103 South to I-91
South
Take I-91 to exit 19 (Rte. 9) from South, or exit 20 (Rte. 9) from
North
Take Rte. 9 East to Rte. 116 South
These roads intersect at a stoplight at the top of a hill. Locate
the facility below and follow to your destination.
FROM NORTHEAST
(Maine, Bates, Bowdoin, Colby)
From Bates take I-495 South to I-95 South
Take I-95 South to I-495 South
Take I-495 South to exit 29B (Rte. 2 West)
Take Rte. 2 West to Rte. 202 South
Take Rte. 202 South to Amherst Road in Pelham (turn right)
Take Amherst Road toward Amherst. (The road changes names to
Pelham Rd. and then to Main Street.)
In downtown Amherst, turn left on South Pleasant Street. Continue
for two blocks to the stoplight at the intersection with Rte. 116.
Proceed straight through the light (you’ll now be on Rte. 116
South). Locate the facility below and follow to your
destination.
To LeFrak Gym, Alumni Gym, Pratt Pool, Orr Rink and
Davenport Squash Courts:
(Basketball, Volleyball, Swim/Dive, Ice Hockey, Squash)
- At the corner of Rte. 9 and Rte. 116, turn onto Rte. 116
South
- Take the THIRD LEFT (counting the “Do Not Enter”)
into the athletics complex
- The athletics parking lot will be immediately on your right
(along with Orr Rink). If there are no spaces available, try
parking to your left in front of Alumni Gymnasium. If you still
cannot find parking, go across the street and park along Hitchcock
Road, which is directly across from the entrance to the athletics
complex.
To Memorial Field, Hitchcock Field and the tennis
courts:
(Baseball, Soccer, Tennis)
- At the corner of Rte. 9 and Rte. 116, turn onto Rte. 116
South.
- Take the THIRD LEFT (counting the “Do Not Enter”)
into the athletics complex
- Immediately past the Orr Rink parking lot (which will be
directly on your right), the road will fork. Take it to the RIGHT
to go down a hill and underneath LeFrak Gymnasium
- At the bottom of the hill, Memorial Field will be directly in
front of you. To get to Hitchcock Field and the tennis courts,
follow the road to the lower parking area.
To Gooding Field, Pratt Field, the softball field and
the outdoor track:
(Field Hockey, Football, Lacrosse, Softball, Track)
- No parking will be permitted on Pratt Field. Parking will
be made available on Hills Field (entrance on Rte. 9), the Orr Rink
parking lot, in the designated game day parking area in front of
Alumni Gym, in the designated area on Snell Street, and along
Hitchcock Road, Orchard Street and Hazel Avenue.
- The Hitchcock Road entrance is now open only to pedestrian
traffic. All future vehicle access will be at the east
entrance off of Rte. 9.
- Handicap parking, with valid handicap placards, for the Gooding
and Pratt Field’s will be adjacent to the field house.
Access to this area will be through the Rte. 9 gate and police
officers will be on site to direct you to this location.
Handicap parking, with valid handicap placards, for the softball
field will be located in the softball field parking lot located off
of Rte. 9.
- Sidewalk parking is not allowed on campus.
