Nancy Stevens - Head Coach, UCONN Field Hockey

With 36 years of head coaching experience, 25 of those at the University of Connecticut, Coach Nancy Stevens is the all-time winningest coach in the history of NCAA Division I field hockey.

Coach Stevens’ UConn Huskies are currently the two-time defending NCAA champions, having won back-to-back national titles in 2013 and 2014. For her efforts, Coach Stevens has also won back-to-back National Coach of the Year awards from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

The Huskies have qualified for 13 straight and 18 of the last 19 NCAA tournaments, with seven trips to the national semifinals, including three of the last four. In 24 trips to the Big East conference tournament, her teams have won a record 14 titles.

An eight-time Big East and eight-time Mideast Regional coach of the year, Coach Stevens has taken two Division I programs to a No. 1 national ranking, the other being Northwestern University.

At Northwestern, Coach Stevens made eight straight appearances in the NCAA tournament and led the Wildcats to two third-place finishes. Eight of her former players have been selected to represent the United States as part of the national team.

A member of the U.S. national team herself from 1974-1979, coach Stevens competed in the 1975 world championships in Edinburgh, Scotland. She has also served on the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Athlete Advisory Council and Membership Committee.
