Matt Patricia- NE Patriots Defensive Coordinator

Matt Patricia, born September 13th, 1974 is an American football coach, he is a defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. Patricia has been with the Patriots since 2004 in a variety of different capacities. Starting in 2004 as the offensive coaching assistant, Patricia worked his way up to become the Assistant offensive line coach in 2005, Linebackers coach from 2006-2010 and finally the safeties coach in 2011 until making the transition to Defensive Coordinator in 2012.

 

Patricia’s experience prior to joining the Patriots staff started at Rensselaer in 1996 as a Graduate Assistant, he then made the transition to Amherst College as a Defensive line coach from 1999-2000, Patricia finished up his collegiate coaching career at Syracuse during the 2001-2003 seasons as an Offensive graduate assistant.

 

Patricia has accumulated multiple career highlights; two super bowl championships (XXXIX, XLIX), four AFC Championships (2004, 2007, 2011, 2014).

 

Patricia was born in Sherrill, New York, attended Vernon-Verona-Sherill High School and is an alum of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Patricia is a brother of the Theta Chi Fraternity and played for the RPI Engineers football team as an offensive lineman from 1992-1996. He majored in aeronautical engineering.
