Horowitz oversees all programming, marketing and scheduling for FS1 and FS2, as well as FOX Sports’ digital operations. His responsibilities also include management and development of original programming and day-to-day operations for FS1’s news and studio programs, including SKIP AND SHANNON: UNDISPUTED, THE HERD WITH COLIN COWHERD, GARBAGE TIME WITH KATIE NOLAN, SPEAK FOR YOURSELF, FOX SPORTS LIVE WITH JAY AND DAN, MLB WHIPAROUND, NASCAR RACE HUB and UFC TONIGHT.
Since joining FOX Sports, Horowitz was named 2016’s “Multichannel News” Sports Brand Executive of the Year and was honored in the “Sports Business Journal’s” prestigious “40 Under 40” Class of 2016. Before joining the network, Horowitz served as Executive Producer for Film 45, working with acclaimed director Peter Berg on a documentary series for HBO.
Prior to that, Horowitz was an executive with ESPN and NBC News. He established himself as an innovative developer of provocative sports programming during his many years at ESPN, winning six Sports Emmy Awards while serving in a variety of capacities. From February 2012 to August 2014, Horowitz held the title of Vice President, Original Programming and Production, charged with the development of original studio shows and oversight of budgets and production for established shows including “Olbermann,” “First Take,” “Numbers Never Lie,” “SportsNation” and “Colin’s New Football Show.” He also worked to drive revenue for the shows via custom content across multiple platforms.
As a coordinating producer at ESPN from January 2009 to January 2012, Horowitz created and executive produced the daily studio show “SportsNation” and created the weekly ESPN on ABC show “Winners Bracket.” As senior producer at ESPN from May 2006 to January 2009, he oversaw the development of original studio shows and served as Executive Producer of the World Series of Poker.
After leaving ESPN in the fall of 2014, Horowitz served as Senior Vice President/General Manager of “Today,” NBC News’ long-running morning program, overseeing all platforms of the show’s brand, driving greater integration and developing opportunities that served the audience beyond the day-to-day execution of the broadcast and digital platforms.
Horowitz began his career in sports television as an Olympics researcher for NBC Sports (1998-02) during the 2000 Sydney Summer Games, also writing for the NBC morning show during the Games. After Sydney, he was elevated to associate producer with NBC Sports, working in that role from October 2000 to April 2006. There, he created and produced the “National Heads-Up Poker Championship” and worked on remote and studio events for NBC’s coverage of NBA, NASCAR and the Olympics.
Horowitz serves on the board for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the first and largest organization for new veterans and their families. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Compass Charter School, a progressive elementary school in Brooklyn, New York.
Horowitz graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College with a B.A. in political science. He played on the Amherst basketball team but suffered from an inconsistent jump shot. He and his wife Kara reside in Los Angeles with their three boys Jake, Will, and Cooper.
