Dan Shaughnessy - Sports Columnist, Boston Globe

A Holy Cross graduate and native of Massachusetts, Dan Shaughnessy began his career as a beat reporter covering the Baltimore Orioles for the Baltimore Sun in 1977. Since 1981 Shaughnessy has been a member of the Boston Globe staff, serving as a beat writer for the Boston Celtics and the Boston Red Sox, as well as a sports columnist.

Shaughnessy has been recognized by his peers as one of the best in his profession, receiving the Massachusetts Sportswriter of the Year award 9 times and being named one of the top 10 sports columnists in America by the Associated Press Sports Editors 8 times.

Additionally, Shaughnessy has also written 11 books, such as The Curse of the Bambino and Senior Year, and appeared across numerous media outlets such as ESPN’s Jim Rome is Burning, ESPN Outside the Lines, SportsIllustrated.com, and 98.5 The Sports Hub.

He currently resides in Newton, Massachusetts with his wife Marilou. Shaughnessy has three children, Sarah, Kate, and Sam.
