Jayla Adkins went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs in a Thursday-opening 9-4 win over Clarkson and sophomore
Laura Daniels crushed a decisive 3-run home run in the nightcap, a 6-3 win over Westminster, as the Amherst College softball team pulled off a Thursday sweep to reach the .500 level (3-3) on te spring trip and season.
The Mammoths are back at it Friday with a doubleheader. It begins at 9 a.m. with a game against Wisconsin-Oshkosh. It continues at 11:15 with a battle against Franklin & Marshall. Both games are at the Hancock Sports Complex.
Game 1: Amherst 9, Clarkson 4
* Amherst jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. With two outs and nobody on,
Brooke Wild walked and Adkins singled.
Abby Moravek then clubbed a double center field that scored both runners for a 2-0 lead. Laura Ro singled Moravek to third and then stole second. An error on the throw allowed Moravek to score.
Heidi Li then reached on an error that Ro scored on.
* Clarkson tied the game with a four-run second. But the Mammoths rallied for a single run in the fourth and four more in the fifth to take a 9-4 lead. In the fourth, tree straight two-out singles by
May Mishima, Wild and Adkins scored
Samantha Portz, wo ad walked with two outs and nobody on.
* In the fifth,
Abby Kong had a clutch RBI-single and Adkins capped the uprising with a two-run double.

Gwen Religa earned the win from the circle, coming on in relief and tossing 5 innings of 1-hit, 0-run relief. She walked two and fanned eight to earn her first collegiate victory.
Game 2: Amherst 6, Westminster 3
* Amherst took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Moravek lined a two-run double to right.
* In the Amherst third,
Jenna Holmes walked, Portz singled and Daniels came up and crushed a ball to staightaway center field that cleared the wall for a three-run home run and 5-1 lead. In the Amherst fourth, Abby Reban doubled and scored on an error.
* Moravek earned the complete-game win, going seven innings and giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits. She walked three and struck out tree and is now 2-0 on the season.
* Amherst had 7 hits. Moravek was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
