Reagan Pahl leads Mammoths to road win over Middlebury, 66-55

MIDDLEBURY, VT. – The Amherst College women's basketball team defeated Middlebury College, 66-55, in an away game behind 22 points from Reagan Pahl.
 
The Mammoths (17-6, 6-4) will face Williams College in conference play at the John Wesley Chandler Gymnasium tomorrow at 3 p.m.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
 
* The Mammoths were neck and neck with the Panthers for the majority of quarter one, with Pahl draining an impressive three-pointer following a defensive rebound from Sylvia Liddle at the two-minute mark. The Mammoths entered quarter two with a 14-12 advantage.
 
* Laura Mendell sank a jumper with eight minutes and eight seconds on the clock in quarter two, which kicked off a high scoring five minutes for the Mammoths. Amherst put up 14 points to Middlebury's six, with two free throws from Macie Nugent, two three-pointers from Pahl, two free throws from Anna Tranum, and a jumper from Maya Cwalina. Pahl put two more points on the board for the Mammoths in the last minute of quarter two to send the Mammoths into halftime with a lead of 33-24.
 
* Cwalina and Mendell racked up five points in the first two minutes of quarter three. With the score sitting at 41-29, Pahl sank two layups and Mendell drained a free throw to elevate the score to 46-29. Brielle Renwick scored two points off a layup with one minute and 30 seconds remaining, and a free throw with 18 seconds remaining to give the Mammoths a 51-37 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
 
* Renwick hit a layup in the first two minutes of quarter two and Nugent sank two layups to put six consecutive points on the board by the six minute mark. In the final two minutes of the game, Pahl sank a layup and free throw and Nugent scored on a jumper and two free throws to ensure victory for the Mammoths, 66-55.
 
BY THE NUMBERS: 
 
* Pahl scored 22 of the Mammoths' 66 points, accounting for ? of Amherst's points. Mendell netted 17 points and a 4 assists. Nugent finished with 14 points, tying her career-high. 

 * Cwalina scored 8 rebounds, all of which were defensive. Renwick had 11 rebounds to lead the Mammoths and go with her 5 points.
