#15 Mammoths Roll Past Albertus Magnus 72–31

AMHERST, MA — The Amherst College women's basketball team returned to LeFrak Gymnasium on Wednesday evening and continued their undefeated start to the season, rolling past Albertus Magnus College in a dominant 72–31 victory. The Mammoths built an early lead in the first half and then fully took control after halftime, using sharp execution and intense defensive pressure to secure a commanding 41-point win. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Amherst set the tone from the opening tip, establishing an early lead despite Albertus Magnus staying close initially by earning trips to the free-throw line. The Falcons' first six points came from made free throws as they tried to match the Mammoths' pace.
  • The Mammoths gradually pulled away, stretching the lead to 28–14 going into halftime thanks to a steady offensive rhythm and disciplined defensive play.
  • In the third quarter, Amherst came out firing, scoring on four straight possessions without allowing a single point. The momentum only grew as the quarter went on, with the Mammoths dominating the quarter by a 21-point margin.
  • Amherst carried that energy into the fourth, showcasing unselfish ball movement and relentless hustle on the defensive end. The Mammoths closed out the game firmly in control, finishing with a 41-point advantage.
BY THE NUMBERS:
  • Multiple Mammoths recorded double-digit points, including Olivia Soenens and Sylvia Liddle with 11 points each, as well as Chase Anderson with 10 points.
  • Amherst dominated the boards, winning the rebounding battle 45–35. Anderson led the way with a team-high of 9 rebounds.
  • The Mammoths protected the basket well, finishing with 13 blocks compared to Albertus' 1. They were led by Liddle, who had 5 blocks of her own.

  • With this win, Amherst now moves to a 4–0 overall record.
  • The Mammoths will travel to Middletown, CT, on Tuesday, December 9, to take on the Wesleyan University Cardinals at 7 p.m. in Silloway Gymnasium.
