#15 Mammoths Close Out D3Hoops Classic with a 61–47 Win Over Salve Regina

LAS VEGAS, NV —

The Amherst College women's basketball team rebounded from a loss to Gettysburg on Sunday with a dominant 61–47 victory over Salve Regina University this afternoon in their second and final game of the D3Hoops Classic. Amherst dominated from the opening tip, using sharp ball movement and intense defense to fuel an early surge that carried the Mammoths to a 14-point win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Amherst came out firing in the first quarter, opening the game with a 12-point run and quickly establishing control. By the end of the quarter, the Mammoths held an 11-point advantage.

  • The Mammoths continued to build momentum in the second quarter, extending their lead through efficient shooting, strong drives to the basket, and quick transition play. Their balanced attack pushed the margin to 18 points by halftime.

  • Salve Regina began to chip away in the third quarter, capitalizing on open looks and trips to the free-throw line to trim Amherst's lead to 14 entering the final quarter.

  • Although the Seahawks gained some momentum and cut the deficit to single digits in the fourth, Amherst remained composed. Steady execution on both ends of the floor allowed the Mammoths to regain control and close out the game with a 14-point victory.
