Mammoths strike twice in 2nd half to edge Hamilton, 2-1

AMHERST, Mass. — The Mammoths were back home for Saturday's NESCAC battle against Hamilton after three consecutive away games.

After a loss away against #1 Tufts on Tuesday night, the Mammoths were able to bounce back on their Senior Day with a 2-1 win over Hamilton. With two more games left in the regular season, both of them against NESCAC competition, Saturday's game was an important victory to set the tone for a strong finish.

After both teams went the first half without finding the back of the net, Amherst started the second half impressively, scoring twice in the first 15 minutes. Hamilton was able to score once off of a penalty later in the second half. The Mammoths showed strong defense in the last 20 minutes to take the win.
Amherst's record is now 7-3-3 (3-3-2 in the NESCAC). The defending national champions are looking to get away with victories in the last two games of the regular season as they face Bowdoin (away) and Trinity (home).
